Third Street NE closing set for March 21
The City of Cedar Rapids says Third Street NE, between First Avenue and A Avenue, will be permanently closed for construction of the Convention Complex starting on Monday, March 21.
Street Operations Superintendent Mike Duffy says the contractor is responsible for closing the road. But he expects it will be closed by 7 a.m. Monday.
Duffy says left turn signals at the intersection will also be disabled so people don't accidentally turn into the construction zone. Some barricades will also be set up in the street to keep people from driving into the turn lanes.
