No one forced Branstad to run for governor
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 21, 2011 2:20 pm
I understand the law allows Gov. Terry Branstad to take a pension and to receive a salary, but for his handler, Tim Albrecht, to state that Branstad “made a significant personal sacrifice” (to run for governor) was out of line.
No one forced Branstad out of his former job, that I am aware of. He wanted his current position. Give him his money (as he works at taking it away from as many other state employees who were not able to “sacrifice” like he did), but please don't make him out to be the poor person undeserving of the derision that he's receiving.
