Time's up! In fact, it is long overdue. After eight years of war in Afghanistan, what is there to show for it? Why are we even there?
Our budgets are strained everywhere in the United States. Taxpayers have mailed their returns. Why are we spending $1,980,000, according to the American Friends Service Committee, every minute, every day for a quagmire?
If diplomats aren't getting anywhere in Afghanistan, bring them home and send others. The generals have said from the beginning that the war would not be won militarily. Why keep hitting your head against a wall? There are more jihadists today than there were eight years ago.
What would you like to do with the dollars that every day you as a taxpayer are losing in Afghanistan? I believe you could spend those dollars better for groceries and school fees. Think of all the libraries, roads and homes you could build if you had that money.
We could have it if we would unite and say to President Barack Obama: “Keep our money at home. We need it here.”
