Suspect in shooting last weekend remains in jail

Harris Ceaser remains in the Linn County Jail on charges of shooting another man last week.

Ceaser, 23, is charged with willful injury in the shooting Nov. 3 of Ryan Dennis in an apartment at 500 Seventh Ave. SW. Dennis, who suffered a serious injury after he was shot in the leg, identified Ceaser as the man who shot him with a handgun, according to the complaint.

Staff called police after Dennis walked into the Mercy Medical Center emergency room about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday. After responding to the ER, officers then went to the upper-floor apartment where the shooting occurred during an argument.

Police arrested Ceaser about 5:15 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Seventh Street SE. Ceaser, of 1121 Third St. SW, made an initial court appearance this morning and returned to jail, where he remains in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
