Barry, E. Lucile Passwater
E. Lucile Passwater Barry, 91, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids.
Born March 3, 1921, to Fred and Tressie Passwater, she was raised in central Indiana. Lucile graduated as a Registered Nurse from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, entered the Army in 1943, and trained in Boca Raton, Fla. There she met First Lt. Owen Thomas Barry II and was married. After the war, they moved to Cedar Rapids, where Lucile worked as a RN for many years.
After retirement, she and Tom lived in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., until his death in 2005. A year later, she returned to Iowa and spent four happy years on a small farm in Jones County.
Lucile was a terrific tennis player, a great cook, and the best mama ever.
She is survived by her four children: O. Thomas Barry III, F. Scott Barry, Summer Barry Dawson and Roger S. Barry; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The family plans a private celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
