Cardin, Louis F.
Louis F. Cardin, 81, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, Marshalltown, Iowa Falls, Jefferson and Guthrie Center, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, after a short battle with cancer.
Lou was the youngest of seven children born to Louis and Bertha Cardin of Sheldon, Iowa, on June 15, 1929. He worked as a regional manager for Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for 35 years. After retiring Lou worked for Century 21 Real Estate in Marion. In 1989, Lou and his wife, Loretta, moved to Florida. They were married 55 years.
Lou was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta; daughter, Diane; sisters, Angie, Ann and Bernadette; and brothers, Lincoln, Clement and George.
He was an avid golfer and loved traveling. He leaves behind his love, memories, humor and legacy of hard work and perseverance to his three sons, Louis Jr. (Annette) of Vallejo, Calif., Lloyd (Diana) of Marion, James of Milford, Ohio; four granddaughters, Taryn Cardin of Chicago, Emily Hoemberg, Amy Wright and Laura Bergen, two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson, all of Minnesota; and nieces, Ruth Viola and Cathy Conner.
He will be greatly missed by the many friends who admired and loved him.
Memorial services are planned for April at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown.
