Carnes, Sarah Jane
Sarah Jane Carnes, 68, of Olin, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Green Center Cemetery in Morley, Iowa.
Sarah was born on Nov. 23, 1944, in Anamosa, Iowa, to William and Frances (Gerdes) Brodersen. She graduated from Olin High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Ron Tallman on July 5, 1963, they later divorced. On March 29, 1986, she was united in marriage to Duane Carnes at the Olin Community Methodist Church, he later passed away on Dec. 7, 2010.
She loved to go on vacations to Mexico and Florida and always attended her grandchildren's activities. She liked to knit, read and bake.
Sarah is survived by her children and grandchildren, Keith (Debbie) Tallman of Anamosa and Jake, Christopher, Abbie, Megan, Keegan and Ellie, Jeanette (Troy) Espe of Cedar Rapids and Macy Jane and Jack, Aaron (Terri) Tallman of Cascade and Ethan, Ty and Layni; a stepdaughter, Robin (Brent) Morrow of Ottumwa and Kevan and Whitney; one sister, Sharon (Dave) Lindbloom of Indiana; one brother, John (Sandy) Brodersen of Olin; a cousin she was very close to Greg Gerdes of Olin; and her dog, Paco.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances; husband, Duane; a granddaughter, Madison Tallman in 2001; a grandson, Maximillian Espe in 2006; and a cousin, Van Gerdes in 2012.
