Raising minimum wage fair to workers

I have been listening and reading the pros and cons of raising the minimum wage.

There is a difference of opinion on whether this would cause increased unemployment or not.

But the main fact is that there are too many people working hard and trying to make a living on a wage that is unfair and too low. Many of these people are dependent on government programs or charity. Taxpayers are making up for what businesses are not providing for their employees.

For example, millions of Walmart employees depend on government programs because of their low wages. Then Walmart becomes the recipient of billions of dollars of food stamp money. Does this make sense to you? (I realize that many people just would cut off all government support to poor people, including the sick and the young.)

It has been said that paying someone the minimum wage is like saying, I would pay you less if I legally could.

To me, raising the minimum wage is simply a matter of being fair to workers.

I support Rep. Bruce Braley's proposal to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. Not only is this a fairer wage, but it is money that will cycle back into the economy quickly.
