EVAN VOLKERS
Cedar Rapids
Evan "V" Volkers, 24, of Cedar Rapids, died July 14, 2014, due to injuries from a motorcycle accident. A Celebration Gathering will be held from 1 until 5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. After 5 p.m., there will be a short memorial ride to the Ralfs' house, where the remembrance will continue.
Evan is survived by his mother, Sarah Wittles; father, Kevin Volkers of Minnesota; stepfather, Charles "Chuck" Wesbrook II; stepfather, Kevin Wittles and his wife, Marci; brothers, Mitchell Wesbrook and Booker Melver, both of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Loretta Wesbrook of Cedar Rapids; his girlfriend, Meredith Anson of Cedar Rapids; and his beloved pit bull, Gucci.
Evan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joan Zeien; grandfather, Charles Wesbrook Sr.; and grandparents, Emil and Marie Volkers.
Evan was born June 14, 1990, in St. Cloud, Minn., the son of Kevin E. Volkers and Sarah L. Melver. He graduated in 2008 from Jefferson High School, where he played football, and attended Kirkwood Community College, both in Cedar Rapids.
Evan proudly worked the past eight years for D & N Fencing of Cedar Rapids and enjoyed pointing out his completed work.
Evan enjoyed riding his motorcycles and teaching others to stunt. He worked hard toward his goal to be a pro stunt rider. He also enjoyed floating down the river, scaring his friends, getting into scuffles and mischief and traveling with his friends.
Evan touched many lives and will be missed by the "families" he made from his friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to D & N Fencing, Sgt. Christy Hamblin and the Hummell, Steggall and Ralfs families.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund in memory of Evan.
