Flitz, Elynor Stapp
Elynor Stapp Flitz, 83, died peacefully at her home Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, surrounded by family. A Service of Celebration was held by Elynor's family.
Elynor was born March 8, 1928, in Vandalia, Ill., the daughter of Gordon and Artimus (Gelsinger) Stap. On July 2, 1949, she married Henry E. Flitz in Petosi, Mo. Elynor received her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and was a graduate of Barnes Hospital School of Nursing. Elynor was a registered nurse and a nurse educator. She and Henry lived in Princeton, Ill., for many years, later moving to Texas and subsequently made Coralville their summer home.
Elynor is survived by her loving husband, Henry; their three children, Susan (William) Phelan of Magnolia, Texas, LouAnn (Jeff) Landes of Billings, Mo., and James Flitz and Suzanne Summerwill of Coralville; six grandchildren, Steven (Danielle) Landes, David Landes, Sean Phelan, Katy (Eric) McClanahan, Graham Flitz and Evan Flitz; her brother, Larry Stapp; two sisters-in-law, Irma Hardt and Irene Fenton; and many nieces and nephews.
Elynor was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, 200 Hawkins Dr., Iowa City, IA 52242.
