Morrison, Don E.
Don E. Morrison, 80, of rural South English, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Pastor Jim Stout will officiate. Visitation and Masonic Rites will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Masonic service at 7:45 p.m. Burial with military rites will be in the Brethren Cemetery, near South English.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Kinross Christian Church and the South English QRS.

Don E. Morrison was born May 2, 1933, as a son of Dyle and Tressie (Johnston) Morrison. He attended country school and graduated from Kinross High School in 1951. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1954. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Scott on Feb. 4, 1954 in Westfield, Ind. They made their home in rural South English and had lived there ever since. Farming and family was his life. He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's ball games and activities. He served on numerous community boards throughout his lifetime. Don was a member of the Kinross Christian Church and the Farmers Masonic Lodge No. 168 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of South English; seven children, Vicki (Richard) Barnett of Macon, Mo., Dr. Doug (Sue) Morrison of Crivitz, Wis., Dan (Jody) Morrison of South English, Brenda (David) Ranum of Decorah, David Morrison of Cedar Rapids, Mari (Alan) Ackerman of South English and Dick (Nancy) Morrison of South English; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Ellen) Morrison of Williamsburg; and sisters, Carolee (Delmar) Senger of Olathe, Kan., Marsha (Terry) Steinhart of Sigourney and Debra (Jerry) Bellinghausen of Britt.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
