Use of ID to vote would increase turnout

Regarding Mary Sanchez's July 18 column “The subject Mitt doesn't address”: So far, I haven't read about a similar viewpoint about President Barack Obama in The Gazette opinion page.
So, first, let me address Sanchez's subject about voter fraud. With a driver's license or other method of identification, you will actually increase the voter turnout. If folks had a method of entering a voting area without identifying themselves out loud for all to hear, I think more would vote.
Why do I say that? Well, I was a census enumerator several years ago. I noticed the shocked look on some folks' faces when I announced why I was at their door. One could factor in forgetfulness but also that they did not want the government to know too much about them! In two of my visits, I could hear people moving about inside the house but no one would even come to the door.
So, if Sanchez or The Gazette is up to the opportunity to present topics and comments on what subjects Obama will not address, here are a couple to ponder: The debt and how the next president will need to tailor his budget accordingly; health care, a tax according to the highest court in the country; and job creation plans and goals by month.
