Heat wave results in record electric demand for Alliant Energy
Air conditioning demand due to this week's heat wave resulted in a new electric demand record Monday for Alliant Energy's Iowa and Minnesota service territory, the company said.
The amount of electricity consumed by customers of Alliant's Interstate Power & Light utility reached the peak of 3,701 megawatts at 6 p.m. Monday, up from a previous peak of 3,666 megawatts set on August 20, 2003.
