Judith J. "Judy" Nurre, 74, of Edgewood, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Greeley Community Church in Greeley with Pastor Peter Buschmann officiating. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Due to Judy's wishes she will be cremated and placed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Greeley, at a later date.
Judy was born Sept. 1, 1940, the daughter of Arthur and Stella (Weber) Bockenstedt in Greeley. She was raised and educated in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1958. On April 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to David Nurre. Four children were born to this union. They later divorced.
Over the years, Judy was a loving mother, homemaker, farm wife, beautician and worked for Rockwell Collins as a contract cleaner before retiring. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening, canning and morning coffee doing crossword
and Sudoku puzzles. Judy loved her three cats and spending time with family and friends. Her fun sense of humor and various stories, rhymes and songs brought many laughs and good times.
Survivors include her children, Kris (Ken) Rave of Dundee, Rod (Ann) Nurre of Greeley, Paula Nurre of Schaumburg, Ill., and Luke (Tanya) Nurre of Dundee; three grandchildren, Sam (Lindsay) Rave, Spencer (Ciara) Rave and Renee Nurre; a great-granddaughter, Reese Rave; and two sisters, Lila "Dolly" Tilp of Rock Island, Ill., and Nancy (Roger) Beatty of Edgewood.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Maxine Westrom, Mary "Sis" Ryan and Margaret "Gracie" Griffin; and one brother, Daniel Bockenstedt.
