Ulrey, Patricia Lorraine
Patricia Lorraine Ulrey, 62, a resident of the Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Feb. 1, 2012. A private graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her mother, Lois (Ulrey) Wehrhan; brother, David; nephews, Tim and Scott Ulrey; nieces, Elisha Serckpor and Joy McLeran; great-niece, Zachiah Serckpor; as well several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are special friends, Mike and Sue Lane; and “that darn cat.”
She was preceded in death by her father, David; one sister, Roxanna (Ulrey) Harris; and her stepfather, Richard Wehrhan.
She graduated from Marion High School and Kirkwood Community College and also attended the University of Iowa. She was affiliated most of her life with First Presbyterian Church in Marion. She was a 33-year employee of Mercy Medical Center, retiring in 2006.
Patricia loved couponing and sharing them with everyone she knew as well as coin collecting and helping others find just what they needed. Her passion of genealogy resulted in a vast collection of family history preserved for her extended family.
Patricia was a lovely and sweet lady who enjoyed the simple things life had to offer and especially enjoyed her trips - England being one of her favorite memories.
She will be greatly missed and totally remembered for all the special moments she shared with family during her lifetime and the humorous stories shared over the years about her nephews and growing up in Iowa. She is an angel now and has gone to her heavenly home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to personal care physician, Dr. Cindy Hannawalt, and to Wanda McCallister and her staff at Arbor Place for the wonderful care Patricia received while living there and also much gratitude goes to Pam and the Hospice of Mercy staff during her final days at Woodlands. We could not have done it without all of their help.
Memorials in Patricia's honor may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or the Alzheimer's Association.
Please leave a message, tribute or memory to Patricia's family and friends at under Obituaries.
