Deutmeyer, Rita M.
Rita M. Deutmeyer, 89, of Dyersville, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the new Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave, SW, Dyersville, where a parish vigil will be held at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Rita was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Dyersville, the daughter of Alfred and Rose (Olberding) Klostermann. She was united in marriage to Raymond “Jim” Deutmeyer on Feb. 10, 1944, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Together they farmed and raised 10 children east of Colesburg, until he preceded her in death in 1968. Rita moved to Dyersville and worked for the Western Dubuque School District, until retiring in 1994.
Surviving are 10 children, Jo Ann (Jim) Young of Cedar Rapids, Janet (Jerry) Nadermann of New Vienna, Carla and Loras Deutmeyer, both of Dubuque, Fred and Keith Deutmeyer, both of Dyersville, Lois Campbell of Olathe, Kan., Sheila (Joe) Harrison of Beloit, Kan., Dean Deutmeyer of Denver and Dennis (Connie) Deutmeyer of Rye, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lila Clemen, Ruth (Joe) Lansing and Vera Kroeger, all of Dyersville; and two sisters-in-law, Verna Klostermann and Lorraine Klostermann, both of Dyersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Kenneth Nadermann; a sister, Virginia in infancy; two brothers, Arthur and Alfred Klostermann; and eight in-laws and their spouses.
Memorials are preferred to Area Residential Care in Dubuque or Oak Crest Manor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Crest Manor for the care and compassion shown to their mother.
