Johnson, Hilda
Hilda Johnson, 92, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2013, in Marion after a brief illness. Memorial Gathering: 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Hilda was born on a farm in Santiago, Minn., on Feb. 14, 1921, to Jalmer and Helen Jenson. She was the oldest girl of a big loving family of 14 children. Hilda attended St. Cloud Teachers College and taught country schools for four years. She also worked for the school system many years. She married Scotty in 1943. During their marriage of 61 years they lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico and Iowa. They had two daughters, Patricia Dianne and Sally Ann. Hilda was the proud Nana of six grandchildren. Patricia married Cliff Malone and their children are Pam and Kip. Sally married Bob Abbott and they had four children, Kyle, Ashley, Joshua and Adam.
Hilda loved music and regularly used her gifts of singing and piano playing to serve the Lord and others. She loved attending church and Bible study. Hilda kept up with current events, loved politics and embraced new technologies. She could bake, sew and garden and was a good shot with a rifle. She was an encourager to everyone she knew and lots of fun to be around. Her family was her special joy. Blessed with intelligence and wit all her days, she was truly a remarkable woman.
