RoughRiders lose at Muskegon, 6-5

Nov. 6, 2013 2:18 pm
MUSKEGON, Mich. - Alex Toscano scored his first goal of the season with 2:31 left to lift the Muskegon Lumberjacks past the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 6-5, in a rare Wednesday morning game at L.C. Walker Arena.
The RoughRiders had rallied from a 5-3 hole with third-period goals from Judd Peterson and Nick Master to tie it. Cedar Rapids scored the first two goals of the game, from Andrew Poturalski and Mark Auk.
Alec Marsh had the Riders' other goal. Marsh and Auk also had assists in the game.
Danny Tirone took his first loss in net in five decisions, stopping 28 shots. This was the first regulation loss in seven games on the road this season for Cedar Rapids (7-2-1, 15 pounds).
This was the third game without goaltender Chris Birdsall, defenseman Clark Kuster and forward Andrew Oglevie, who are part of a United States team that won its first game Tuesday at the World Junior 'A' Challenge in Nova Scotia, 8-3, over Russia.
The U.S. played Canada East on Wednesday.
