Eugene “Red” Dale Koeppen, 79, longtime Solon resident, passed peacefully to his eternal reward on April 17, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. His happiest times after retirement came when spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren who will all miss him very much.
Eugene was an active member of the Solon United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men.
Eugene is survived by his wife and best friend, Connie; five sons, Nathan, Steve, Mark Koeppen, Kenny and Jim Christner; daughter, Carol Schexnayder; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Audrey Papesh and Coleen Albers.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Viola; his brother, Dean; and brother-in-law, Melvin Papesh.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Iowa City Hospice and the Solon Care Center for their loving care and compassion.
