Lawrence "Mike" Lawrence, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 6, 2021, at The Views of Marion. Services:
10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at St. Matthew Catholic Church bythe Rev. Douglas Loecke. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at Teahen Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Per COVID-19 guidelines, attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol; daughter, Jean Lawrence of Cedar Rapids; sons, John (Michele) Lawrence and Richard (Deborah) Lawrence, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jahna, Joshua, Brandon, Alicia Meyer and Alexandria Kirk; sister, Rosemary Slaman Lancaster of California; brother, Jerry (JoAnna) Lawrence of Marion; sister-in-law, Carol Lawrence of Monticello; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dave, Don and Rick; sisters, Irene (Ed) Byard, Doris Lawrence and Ruth Lawrence; and brother-in-law, Carl.
Mike was born on Jan. 31, 1945, in Prairieburg, son of Linhart and Levona Fousek Lawrence and attended Anamosa High School. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. On Dec. 30, 1967, he married Carol Skvor at St. Pius Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Mike Worked at Iowa Manufacturing (CR, Inc.) for 43 years. Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5390.
Mike was a man of strong faith who was very kind and dedicated to his family. He enjoyed spending time with Carol the love of his life and they enjoyed traveling and gambling. Mike liked to be outdoors, mowing, walking, and always loved to be doing "something." He was always ready to help and lend a hand.
