Miller, Ruth Joyce

Ruth Joyce Miller, 78, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A private burial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Ill. The family will receive friends before the service from 6 to 7 p.m.

Ruth was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Harrison and Esther (Schwartz) Miller. Ruth lived in group homes in Tipton and Muscatine before moving to St. Mary's Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Davenport.

Ruth loved playing Bingo and collecting stuffed animals. She enjoyed shopping and new clothes.

Ruth was a special person who was very kind and family-oriented. She was a tremendous giver who would come to Christmas gatherings with a big bag filled with 40-plus gifts just so everyone would have something to open.

Ruth is survived by her cousins John (Donna) Schwartz of Marion, Robert Schwartz of Wheatland, Ray Schwartz of Williamsburg, Judith Mumm of Davenport and Ray Hudlik of Calamus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and cousins Normal Schwartz, Eleanor Schuett and Joyce Hudlik.
