Police say Vinton man had sexual contact with 6-year-old
A Vinton man is facing a sexual abuse charge after officials say he had inappropriate contact with a 6-year-old girl.
John Joseph Vance, 47, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Benton County Sheriff's Office. He was was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, and lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony.
According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Vance had inappropriate sexual contact with the 6-year-old girl during the summer of 2008 in rural Benton County.
Following an appearance in Magistrate Court, Vance was released to the the Department of Corrections.
