Gogg, Darlene
Darlene Gogg, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, April 27, 2013. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Steven (Kris) Gogg; grandchildren, Bryan and Derik Gogg and Bradley Kester; sister, Edith Vogt of Ottumwa; sister-in-law, Dolores Usher of Cedar Rapids; and special friend, Marilyn Kester of Marion.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; son, Harold Gogg; brother, Harold “Mike” Usher; and brother-in-law, Bernard Vogt.
Born Aug. 1, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Darlene was the daughter of Harold and Caroline (Church) Usher. She attended Washington High School. On Aug. 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald Gogg. They settled in the Czech Village area of Cedar Rapids. He died in 1993.
Darlene's greatest joy was her grandchildren. Other joys were cooking and baking. She loved animals, especially her cat Saddie.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed in Darlene's memory to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, 7411 Mount Vernon Rd, SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
