Shope, Eric
The family of Eric Shope welcomes friends to a time of remembrance and celebration Saturday, Nov. 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Eric died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, and has found peace.
A memorial fund has been established.
Eric was born in Iowa City on April 17, 1963.
Eric was educated in the Iowa City schools and was co-valedictorian of his 1981 graduating class at City High School. In 1990, Eric graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. with a degree in computer science and philosophy. Eric resided in Bloomingdale, Ill., and was a software engineer for Tellabs.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Bloomingdale.
Eric enjoyed camping, riding his bicycle, traveling, photography and spending time with his daughter, Ryan.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Eric is survived by his daughter, Ryan of Schaumburg, Ill.; his parents, Lee and Linda Shope of Iowa City; his sister, Christine Shope of Iowa City; his former, spouse Kim Rubio of Schaumburg, Ill.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as his beloved cat, Beemer (aka BMW).
His maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death.
