Barnes Jr., Roy
Roy Barnes Jr., 83, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 5, 2010. Full military services were held at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash., on Nov. 19.
Roy is survived by his wife, Virgina; sons, Steve and Mark; daughter, Rochelle; brother, Larry; sister, Gwen; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Roy Barnes Jr. was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Roy Barnes Sr. and Ida Barnes. Roy Jr. was the oldest of four children, Gwen, Alice and Larry. Roy Jr. grew up in Cedar Rapids and moved with his family to Seattle in the early 1960s. Roy Jr. served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
