The pretrial conference for an Iowa City man accused of attempting to murder his apartment manager at gunpoint has been continued to July 22 in Johnson County District Court, according to a court clerk.
Gregory K. Phillips, 56, is charged with attempted murder and going armed with intent.
Police said that on Sept. 9, 2008, Phillips entered his apartment manager's office at Dolphin Lake Enclave, 2401 Highway 6, shoved a pistol against the man's mouth and pulled the trigger, but the gun failed to fire because a round wasn't chambered in the gun.
Phillips was upset because he had to temporarily move from his apartment that he resided in for 35 years as part of a remodeling project, according to police reports.
