NORTH LIBERTY – Wireless broadband provider SpeedConnect has added two new service sectors near Tiptom.
The expansion project complements an existing service coverage area that includes Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Marion, Anamosa, Williamsburg, North Liberty, much of the Quad Cities, as well as nearby communities. SpeedConnect also recently added new service towers near West Branch and Wilton.
Replacing a single, older antenna, the new upgrade features three high-powered antennas at 220 feet high, increasing capacity and boosting coverage, providing up to 7 megabits-per-second service in the Tipton area and surrounding radius of the tower. The new sectors are providing enhanced service in this coverage area, according to SpeedConnect's Iowa General Manager Tony Lounsberry.
“Customers will be able to stream movies, TV and radio at peak user times without any buffering and the upgrade allows for many more users doing the same,” he said. “We're building the best streaming Internet experience we can deliver to our customers and we will continue to enhance our network in Iowa.”
Established in Michigan but new to Iowa, SpeedConnect has spent the past six months investing more than $450,000.00 to upgrade and improve the technology supporting the existing Iowa base, and preparing for further expansion of service availability.
