Cardella should man up rather than head south

In response to Thomas Cardella's Dec. 10 column: He states that the high cost of unemployment insurance is forcing him to expand his company in Texas (instead of Iowa).
On the Iowa Workforce website it clearly states that unemployment insurance contributions are based on two primary factors: whether the business is new and the number of layoffs a company had in the last five years. As a result, companies with seasonal workers and regular shutdowns pay a higher rate than companies that have relatively few shutdowns or layoffs. Iowa has traditionally had some of the lowest employer rates in the country. This is the first employer contribution rate increase in eight years.
So now that it is time for Cardella to man up, and pay up, to help replenish the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund that his company helped deplete, he runs for Texas. I would not think any Iowa-based companies would want to continue doing any business with this telemarketer!
