Primmer, Lois D.
Lois D. Primmer, 84, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Garnett Place. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Lois was born Feb. 17, 1927, to Herman and Clara Kloss in Hopkins, Minn., where she grew up. She received an associate degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Duluth, Minn., and taught elementary education for 12 years at parochial schools in Minnesota.
Lois married Erwin Lussenhop in 1953. They had two daughters, Joyce and Jane, and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1962. Erwin passed away in 1970. She later married the Rev. Walter Cerka and was with him until his passing in 1984. In 1988, she married her soul-mate, James Primmer, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. They spent the last 23 years happily ever after.
Lois was deeply committed to God, her family, and was very active in her church. She taught Sunday school, was president of UMW, organized numerous events, bazaars, dinners and much more.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, James Primmer of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Joyce (James) Vail of Cedar Rapids and Jane (Jeff) Dyson of Springfield, Mo.; and three stepchildren, Jamie (Jan) Primmer of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Mike) Sheparek of Longmont, Colo., and David (Cheryl) Primmer of Milliken, Colo. She had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Erwin Lussenhop; her second husband, the Rev. Walter Cerka; and her brother, Cecil Kloss.
