Lytle, Dale E.
Dale E. Lytle, 81, of Solon, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life Service will be held Aug. 5 at the Hiawatha Community Center from 5 to 11 p.m. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Dale was born to Matt and Gladys Lytle on Oct. 7, 1930, in Brookings, S.D. He served his country in the Army and was sent to Japan for occupational duty from 1948 to 1950 and in Korea in 1950 to 1951. He married Vivian Coughlin on Oct. 7, 1951. He owned Webb's Transmission Service for 27 years and retired in 1992. He worked part-time for Car Colors for eight years.
He enjoyed going to Blue Grass festivals in Iowa and surrounding states, playing cards with his family and hitting the casinos. He also enjoyed his annual Army Reunion with the 61st Field Artillery Battalion. Most of all he loved his family.
He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; three sons, Dennis (Sheri), Tom (Kim) and Mark (Margie); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don (Eula) of Sacramento, Calif.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses on fifth floor and the hospice nurses at St. Luke's for their excellent care.
