Ernst will protect Social Security

James Q. Lynch says Social Security is a priority for Bruce Braley ('Braley sees Social Security as priority,” Oct. 14) but where is the evidence?
Braley is and has been our Congressmen, so where is the legislation he offered to protect Social Security? Why has Braley continually voted to spend Social Security funds on other things? Why did he vote to take funding from Medicare and use it for Obamacare?
The Democratic Party has not protected Social Security. They raided Social Security when they put your Social Security premiums into the general treasury instead of the trust fund under President Lyndon Johnson. Social Security premiums used to be tax deductible, now they aren't. Under President Jimmy Carter immigrants who never paid in a dime can collect Social Security. Under President Clinton Social Security benefits can be taxed as income.
President Obama's budget for Social Security is forecasted to reduce benefits up to 27 percent.
Actions speak louder than words. Braley can't say that Joni Ernst won't protect Social Security when he has voted to spend Social Security funds on things other than Social Security. He can't criticize proposals to save Medicare when he voted to take $714 billion from Medicare and spend it on Obamacare which is failing.
Braley's actions show that he squeezed your Social Security and Medicare premiums and benefits to pay for his expensive government programs. So how is Social Security a priority for Braley?
Protect Social Security and Medicare - vote for Ernst.
