State awards $1.5 million for new Intermec facility
Intermec Corp. was awarded $1.5 million in direct state assistance Thursday for construction of a new downtown Cedar Rapids facility.
The grant from the Economic Development Fund was the largest of at least eight approved Thursday by the Iowa Department of Economic Development Board at its meeting in Okoboji. It will assist in the retention of 224 Cedar Rapids jobs by the Everett, Wash.-based supplier of supply chain management technologies, according to a statement released by IDED.
