New office building planned on former Unitarian Church site
Developing plans for a new downtown Cedar Rapids office building at the former site of Peoples Church will keep a major office tenant from leaving the downtown area, the developer says.
Architect Steve Emerson's Progression LC acquired the church building at 600 Third Ave. SE, on Aug. 4 for $705,000. An adjacent 27,200-square-foot parking lot has also been acquired from the church for the project, Emerson said.
Emerson said the office building is being planned for at least one major downtown business that was looking to relocate out of the downtown, and possibly others.
