To the editor:
Recently, while shopping at the Fareway on 16th Avenue SW, my car which was parked in the Fareway parking lot caught on fire.
I was completely unaware of what I should do; however, so many of the employees took over and tried putting out the fire, which was in the engine, until the fire department arrived.
I am so fortunate to have been in a place where so many caring people came to help me. Thanks to the employees who were out trying to help me in their shirt sleeves on such a cold day. Thanks to the police officer who took me and my groceries home.
Also, a thank you to the young lady who gave me her name and number so that I would be able to call since she was right there when the fire started.
I am so happy to live in Cedar Rapids, where people care about each other. I just wish it could be like that everywhere.
