Clipper Windpower owner buys Goodrich
United Technologies, owner of Clipper Windpower with manufacturing operations in Cedar Rapids, will acquire aircraft parts supplier Goodrich Corp. for $16.5 billion.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Goodrich, with the headquarters of its Engine Components unit in West Des Moines, employs 520 people in Carroll and West Des Moines. The deal, expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2012, will increase Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies' exposure to the world's rapidly expanding commercial aircraft fleet.
