Coralville lands Von Maur with $9.5 million

After initially saying it plans to close its Sycamore Mall store when it opens a new location at Iowa River Landing in Coralville, Von Maur on Thursday released a revised news release stating it has not made a decision about the Iowa City store's fate.

Von Maur said construction of the 80,000-square-foot, single-level Coralville store is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2012 with an anticipated completion date of spring 2013.

The Davenport-based department store chain earlier said “Relocation to the new development will result in the closing of the Sycamore Mall location.” Von Maur, in a later statement, said that “the company has not determined the details of the store's relocation or a potential closure of its Sycamore location. Decisions on these points will be made as the project progresses.”
