Clinton, Faye E.
Faye E. Clinton, 97, of Coralville, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.
Faye was born March 19, 1915, in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Ulysses and Bertha (Penrose) Harris. She married Elbert L. Hildebrand in 1934 in Charles City. The couple later divorced. Faye then married John H. Clinton in 1951 and they were later divorced.
Faye grew up in Clarksville, Iowa. She raised her children and worked as a cook at many restaurants, including Bishop's Buffet in Waterloo. She later lived in the West Branch area. Moving to North Liberty over 30 years ago, Faye worked as a librarian's assistant at the North Liberty Library. She also enjoyed being a foster grandparent to school children at Penn Elementary in North Liberty.
Faye enjoyed life - and she enjoyed laughing. Faye accepted the new technology of personal computers and embraced their ability, developing her own page, “Faye's Page.” Reading, playing cards, bingo and having fun with friends and family were a priority to Faye.
Survivors include her children, Lyle Hildebrand (Alice) of Sebring, Fla., Les Hildebrand (Paula) of Des Moines, Elizabeth Hildebrand of Waterloo, Sharon Frauenholtz of Port Isabel, Texas, John Clinton (Pam) of Waterloo and Gerry Clinton (Julie) of Conesville; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the North Liberty Library or Faye Clinton Memorial Fund.
