Lorrine Agnes Hoggard Rieger, 94, formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon. A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Lorrine was born Feb. 20, 1922, near Portsmouth, Iowa, daughter of William and Verna (Hall) Hoggard. She attended school near Portsmouth. The family moved to Lisbon in 1934. She attended Spring Creek Country School, graduating from Lisbon High School in 1941.
Lorrine worked at Collins Radio from 1942 to 1945; Eugene Rieger returned from Europe and World War II. They were married Oct. 20, 1945, at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed to have celebrated 65 1/2 years of marriage.
Lorraine attended the Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Clear Creek Saddle Club, where she enjoyed riding her favorite horse, "Copper Lad." She loved gardening and spending winters in Arizona.
Surviving Lorrine are her sisters, Vernelle (Charles) Willming of Keizer, Ore., Millicent (Richard) Zenishek of Mechanicsville and Wiladene (Edward) Willming of San Antonio, Texas; nieces and nephews; and many cousins in England.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, in 2011; and her parents.
The family would like to thank Hallmark Care Center and Hospice of Amana for the wonderful care they provided Lorrine.
