Letter: Don’t play games with appointment

Holding out a small effigy of the late Justice Antonin Scalia dangling at the end of a stick in place of a carrot, Senators Chuck Grassley, Mitch McConnell and Joni Ernst have reached new lows.
Their design to make the presidential election about a Supreme Court seat would likely mightily offend the folks who founded our democracy. By politicizing the judiciary they do a disservice to every citizen of the country.
When judges become political footballs passed and kicked between opposing sides, representative democracy gets tackled in its own end zone.
