Schulze, Milford C.
Milford C. Schulze, 82, of Van Horne, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, Salem United Methodist Church, Van Horne. Officiant: Pastor Norm Bennett. Interment: Salem Cemetery. Graveside military rites: Thomas F. Bevin's American Legion Post #148. Visitation: Monday at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. Memorials: Hospice Compassus or Salem United Methodist Church. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Milford was born Jan. 27, 1929, on the family farm southeast of Van Horne to Milton and Inez Bitterly Schulze. He attended school in Van Horne and graduated from Van Horne High School. Milford served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Doris Husted on Nov. 27, 1955, at the Shellsburg Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Van Horne; his children, Scott Schulze of Cedar Rapids, Susan (Anthony) Hlas of Cedar Rapids, and Kristi (Paul) Smith of Lakeville, Minn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, Milford was preceded in death by one sister, five brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
