Ozburn, Marvin R.
Marvin R. Ozburn, 71, of Marion, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor Carol Mart. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Darlene; his daughter, Elaine Yanda of Cedar Rapids; his son, Kurt Ozburn of Marion; two grandchildren, Chuck Yanda II and Jenna Yanda; a brother, Steve Ozburn and a sister, Colleen (Leo) Dowd, both of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Dolly Ozburn of Wisconsin; a niece, Dianah; and a nephew, Chip.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clement; and a son-in-law, Chuck Yanda.
Marvin was born March 5, 1939, the son of Clement and Helen (Ralston) Ozburn in Linn County. On July 7, 1962, he married Darlene M. Plauer in Springville. Marvin worked as an instrument adjuster at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years, retiring in 1993.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends, especially his coffee group that met each morning in Central City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing his guitar. He was a member of the original “County Lineman” band. He also was formerly a ham radio operator.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Marvin's family.
