JANE GATTO
Cedar Rapids
Jane Ryan Gatto, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. A memorial mass will be held in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Support Group at the Center for Active
Seniors Inc. in Davenport.
Jane was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Edna O'Neill Ryan. She was united in marriage to August W. "Gus" Gatto on Nov. 17, 1962, in Cedar
Rapids.
Jane was known for taking care of others throughout her life. One of her greatest joys was helping to care for her five grandchildren here in Iowa. Bettendorf became her second home as she visited often, assisting her daughter with their care until finally relocating from Lincolnshire, Ill., to Iowa, in order to live nearby. A favorite passage of the children was from a book she read to them often, "I will love you forever." They truly were her joy.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, August Gatto of Bettendorf; her daughter, Amy Bush of Davenport and her children, Andrew, Traci, Joseph, Christopher and Carolyn Bush; her niece and nephews, Traci Hummel of Dallas, Texas, Michael (Cathy) Ryan of
Cedar Rapids, Kevin (Kathy) Ryan and Terry Ryan of Glenview, Ill.; and her brothers, Richard and Jerre Ryan of Cedar Rapids and Glenview, respectively.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents.
Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Jane's obituary at www.McGinnis-
Chambers.com.
