Christopher & Banks closing Westdale stores in Cedar Rapids

UPDATE: Christopher & Banks plans to close 100 stores by the end of January, including two locations in Westdale Mall as well as a store in downtown Des Moines by Jan. 24.

Christopher & Banks has  761 stores in 45 states. The company is closing its Christopher & Banks and CJ Banks stores in Westdale, which will affect about 16 employees.

Christopher & Banks offers missy and petite apparel and CJ Banks stores offer plus-size clothing.

The Christopher & Banks store in Lindale Mall will remain open, as well as locations in Coral Ridge Mall, Coralville; Tanger Factory Outlet Mall, Williamsburg; College Square Mall, Cedar Falls; Crossroads Center, Waterloo, and 26 other Iowa communities.

An earlier news release had indicated that two Christopher & Banks stores in Cedar Rapids were closing. A company spokeswoman clarified that the second store closing in Cedar Rapids was the CJ Banks in Westdale.
