Henderson, Anna
Anna “Anne” Marie Henderson of Bickford Cottage in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Anne was born March 6, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William M. and A. Marie (Sundberg) Probst. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended the Cedar Rapids Business College. She was united in marriage to Ollie E. Henderson on Jan. 1, 1942.
Anne was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and nana, whose family always came first. She worked with her husband, Ollie, and after his death continued to manage their various investment properties until her retirement in 2003. She was a talented homemaker as well as business woman, providing a comfortable, loving home. She was a great cook, enjoyed gardening, antiques, needlepoint and cross stitch. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her son, Mark and wife Sherri of Cedar Rapids, and their children, Hayley, Alicia (Damon) Hines, all of Cedar Rapids, and Paige Bauer of Long Beach, Calif.; her daughter, Linda and husband Henry Nicholson of Cedar Rapids, and Linda's children, Benjamin (Florencia) Irvine of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Elizabeth (Mark) Messner of Lombard, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Josie Hines and Oliver Luccioni Irvine; sisters, Jean McDowell of Littleton, Colo., and Margie (Wally) Ullerich of Kahului, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ollie; and brother, Dr. John Probst.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donor's choice in Anne's memory.
