Buyer sought for Clipper Windpower
United Technologies plans to sell Clipper Windpower, less than two years after acquiring the wind turbine manufacturer.
Connecticut-based United Technologies bought a minority stake in Clipper in early 2010, but ended up paying $270 million to buy the remainder of the company later in the year after it ran into a cash crunch.
Clipper Windpower manufactures its wind turbines in Cedar Rapids. But employment at the factory has fallen in recent years as the overall turbine market stumbled.
