Waterbury, Mamie Esther
Mamie Esther Waterbury, 91, of 320 K Ave. NW, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at West Ridge Care Center after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. Craig Bex. Private family burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home and again after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mamie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Neal of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Brett Waterbury of Cedar Rapids, Danielle Seger of Marion, Brian Waterbury of Portland, Ore., and Kevin Neal of Des Moines; and five great-grandchildren.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Dan Waterbury; great-grandson, Brett Waterbury; a brother and two sisters.
Mamie Esther Koblasse was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Frank and Mamie Koblasse. She worked for Collins Radio for over 30 years in test repair. She married Charles D. Waterbury in October 1937 in Kirksville, Mo.
Mamie was proud of her home and garden. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Mamie was influential in the rehabilitation of the Time Check area and the Time Check Recreation Center. Mamie loved and was loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.
