Police said the man arrested on suspicion of robbing the US Bank branch in Coralville Sept. 20 may also be connected to the robbery of an Iowa City US Bank branch.
Iowa City Police Sgt. Denise Brotherton said detectives believe Larry Colton Pate is connected to the Iowa City robbery, but could not elaborate.
Police took Pate, 42, of 2105 Western Road into custody on Friday.
Pate is believed to be the man who robbed the US Bank at 506 10th Avenue in Coralville around 4:50 p.m. Sept. 20. Pate allegedly handed the teller a note demanding money, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said there didn't appear to be any weapon displayed in the robbery.
Pate was located near the Iowa City Ground Transportation Center. He was arrested after an extensive investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the FBI.
The US Bank at 1117 William Street in Iowa City was robbed two weeks prior on Sept. 8, when a suspect handed a teller a note demanding cash, similar to the Coralville robbery.
Brotherton said no charges have been filed in the Iowa City robbery.
Pate has been charged with second-degree robbery for the Coralville bank robbery and remains in custody at the Johnson County Jail on a $25,000 bond. He also faces a charge of public intoxication stemming from his arrest.
