Obama’s visit disruptive to small businesses
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 19, 2012 1:40 pm
President Barack Obama claims to have a real concern for the small-business owners and their small businesses. He also says he has a real concern for the middle class, and yet he interrupts an extremely big event in Iowa City called FRY Fest (Sept. 7). This is not something I thought up but I have heard a lot of grumbling about this visit.
Why couldn't his visit have been on Sunday or Monday so as to be less intrusive on the small-business owners and their businesses because of closed streets and security for the president and wife and the vice president and his wife. I am an independent and have not made up my mind, but things like this do not help.
Is his re-election more important than the effect he and his entourage will have on the common people by interrupting their big day?
