Firefighter hurt in blaze that extensively damages Cedar Rapids home

CEDAR RAPIDS - A firefighter suffered a minor injury in a fire that heavily damaged a Cedar Rapids home late Sunday, authorities said.
Firefighters were called to 3740 E Ave. NW at 10:04 p.m. and discovered fire at the back of the single-family home. They encountered heavy fire inside the front door and fire throughout the roof.
The home sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage, officials said. All occupants and pets were outside the home as crews arrived.
One firefighter suffered a minor arm injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to authorities. No other injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation.
