DONALD LABARGE

Donald J. LaBarge, 67, of Marion, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a Scripture service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Don was born March 8, 1949, to Clifford and Clara (Lawrence) LaBarge in Anamosa, Iowa. He graduated from Central City High School in 1967. Shortly after high school, Don was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed at Quaker Oats for 41 years.
He enjoyed watching CNBC, playing cards and going to the casino. Don was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 909.
He was kind, honest, courageous and optimistic and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, Ben; his former wife, Connie LaBarge; brothers, LaVerne (Carolyn) LaBarge and Francis (Patricia) LaBarge; sister, Rosemary; sister-in-law, Mary LaBarge; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoy; and sister, Kathleen.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Mercy Medical Center and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their expertise and compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Schroeder and Dr. Leila Kutteh for their loyalty and professionalism.
